Custom Pools designed and built for Desert Mountain homes — engineered for Sonoran heat, monsoon storms, and the design standards Desert Mountain buyers expect.
Desert Mountain is the gold standard of North Scottsdale gated-golf living — seven Jack Nicklaus courses, member-only access, and view lots that demand pools engineered to frame the McDowells, the Continental Mountains, and the Sonoran ridge. AE Outdoor Living designs and builds estate-grade negative-edge, vanishing-edge, and perimeter-overflow pools for Desert Mountain members — engineered for boulder integration, hillside grade, City of Scottsdale ESL ordinance, Native Plant preservation, and the Desert Mountain Design Review process every project goes through.
Desert Mountain architecture is dominated by Sonoran Organic, Modern Desert Contemporary, and Santa Fe Pueblo — the pool has to feel like an extension of the home AND the boulder field around it. We design alongside your architect and landscape designer to spec plaster color, coping, deck stone, and spa wall as one continuous material palette from great-room to view edge.
Desert Mountain Design Review covers every exterior change — pool shell, coping, deck stone, plant palette, fencing, and lighting. We prep the full DRC packet with samples, attend reviews, handle Native Plant inventory and salvage, and shepherd City of Scottsdale ESL, hillside-development, and Native Plant Ordinance through to final inspection.
Desert Mountain estate pools typically run $175,000 for a designer pool on a buildable lot up to $550,000+ for vanishing-edge view-lot builds with boulder integration, raised spa, imported stone deck, fire and water features, and engineered hillside retaining. We quote fixed-price after the 3D design.
Recent Desert Mountain pool builds include a Renegade-view negative-edge pool with raised perimeter spa wrapping a natural granite boulder, a Cochise vanishing-edge pool with hand-set travertine deck overlooking the Continentals, a Geronimo hillside rebuild with structural retaining walls and Pebble Sheen pool, and a Saguaro Forest custom-home coordination with full pool, deck, ramada, and landscape designed as one package.
Desert Mountain has its own Design Review Committee on top of City of Scottsdale ESL, hillside, and Native Plant codes. We prep the full architectural packet — site plan, pool drawing, material samples, plant palette, lighting layout — attend the review, handle revisions, and shepherd it to approval. You don't talk to DRC; we do.
Yes — boulder-integrated pool design is one of our specialties in Desert Mountain. We engineer the structural shell to wrap natural granite outcroppings instead of blasting them out, which preserves the lot's character and usually moves through DRC faster.
Yes. Steep lots are most of what we build at Desert Mountain. We engineer the structural pool shell, retaining walls, drainage, and view corridor together so the pool reads as a natural extension of the grade rather than a slab dropped in.
Pool projects follow Arizona ROC standards: 15% down at contract signing, 25% at dig, 25% at plumbing, 25% at decking, and the remaining 10% right before the pool finish goes in. See /payment-terms for details.
