Shotcrete
Wet-mix concrete sprayed pneumatically onto a steel cage — chemically identical to gunite but pre-mixed with water at the plant.
Shotcrete and gunite produce the same finished product but differ in how the concrete is hydrated. Shotcrete arrives pre-mixed; gunite hydrates at the nozzle. Shotcrete is often slightly denser and reduces dust on site, while gunite gives the operator finer control over consistency.
For the homeowner, the choice rarely matters — both produce a structurally sound pool shell. What matters is the rebar layout, the PSI rating, and the curing protocol your builder follows.
