Real backyards for real families. Splash pads for the toddlers, Baja shelves and pool slides for the big kids, shaded lounges for the parents, fire features for the teenagers' friends. Designed for every age in your house — and built to grow with them.
Most family-focused backyards run $80,000–$300,000+ depending on whether you're adding a pool, splash pad, play turf, shade structure, outdoor kitchen, or all of the above. Phased builds welcome — many families start with shade and turf, then add the pool the following year.
We start with a conversation about your kids — ages, activities, what they love, what they're growing into. Then we 3D-render the backyard with every zone (water, play, shade, dining, fire) sized for your family. Build timelines range 4 weeks (turf + shade) to 4–6 months (full pool + outdoor kitchen + play areas).

We design with multiple layers: a large Baja shelf or beach entry the kids can stand on, gentle step entries (no sudden drop-offs), code-compliant barriers (mesh fence, frameless glass, or auto-cover), and an alarm system. We also recommend swim lessons starting at 2 — but design is your first line of defense.
If your kids are under 4 and you don't have older kids yet, a splash pad is often the better first build — zero-depth, no drowning risk, programmable jets and LED color, and the kids will play for hours. Many families add a pool 3–5 years later when the kids grow into it. Or we integrate both from day one.
Three things: shade (pergolas, ramadas, shade sails over play zones), surface choice (light-color pavers, travertine, play-rated turf with cooling infill — never dark concrete in primary play areas), and misting systems that drop ambient temps 15–25°. A properly designed Arizona yard is usable May through October.
Play-rated turf with ASTM-certified shock pad underneath — soft enough for falls from up to 4 feet. We use premium fibers with cooling infill so it doesn't burn bare feet, and we install on a 3–4 inch drainage base so monsoon rain doesn't puddle. Non-toxic, antimicrobial infill, no rubber crumb.
Yes — we build custom putting greens with multiple cups, mini sport courts (basketball/pickleball), bocce courts, cornhole pads, and we can integrate climbing structures and swing sets into the design. Trampolines we leave to other vendors but we'll design a safe, level pad with shock-absorbing turf.
That's how we design. The splash pad converts to a fountain feature, the play turf becomes a putting green or sport court, the shaded play zone becomes a teen hangout with TV and bar. Smart family backyards age with the family — we plan for the next 15 years, not just this summer.
Yes — and it's one of our favorite scopes. Wider walkways, gentler step entries on pools, shaded seating with easy access from the house, lighting designed for older eyes, and quiet pool equipment. The yard works for the toddlers AND the great-grandparents at the same family gathering.
Most of our family builds are also pet builds — see our pet-friendly backyards page. We zone the yard so the dog has its own run and relief area, and the kids' play area is separated with smart fencing or grade changes. Everyone wins.
