Weir
The hinged flap inside a skimmer that holds debris in once it enters the skimmer mouth.
When the pump runs, the weir door floats open and water spills into the skimmer; when the pump stops, the weir closes and traps leaves and bugs so they don't drift back out. Replace cracked weirs — without one, your skimmer basket loses half its catch rate.
