Lumens

A measure of the total light output of a bulb or fixture, regardless of bulb type — replaces the old watt-based comparison.

Lumens measure brightness; watts measure power consumption. A modern LED path light might use 4W to output 300 lumens, replacing a 40W halogen of the same output. Always spec by lumens, not watts.
