Heat Pump (Pool)
An electric heater that extracts ambient heat from outdoor air and transfers it to pool water — the most efficient heater in AZ shoulder seasons.
Heat pumps (Pentair UltraTemp, Jandy AE-Ti, Hayward HeatPro) excel from 50°F ambient and up — perfect for Arizona's long fall and spring swim seasons. They cost more upfront than gas ($3,500–$6,500 installed) but cost ~70% less to run for typical heating loads.
Not ideal when overnight temps drop below 45°F (mostly Dec–Jan in the Valley). Many Arizona homeowners pair a heat pump for daily use with a gas backup for fast heat-ups before parties.
