Outdoor lighting that directs all illumination downward and minimizes glare — required across much of Arizona to preserve night-sky visibility.
Several Arizona cities (Flagstaff, Sedona, parts of Paradise Valley, Cave Creek, Scottsdale) enforce dark-sky lighting codes: full-cutoff fixtures, lumen caps, color temperature limits (2700K or warmer), and timer requirements. Even where not legally required, dark-sky design produces a far more elegant nighttime aesthetic.
